Personal background
Dave Gossett was born and raised in Mountlake Terrace. He lives there now with his wife Laurie. He has three step-sons and eight grandchildren.
Dave served for twelve years on the Mountlake Terrace City Council, including a six-year term as Mayor. He served as liaison to several city commissions including Arts, Solid Waste Advisory, and Recreation and Parks. As Mayor, he took a leading role in the Council sub-committee that negotiated the successful consolidation of fire services, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
County-wide his activities included serving on the Workforce Development Council, the Housing Trust Fund Board, and Snohomish County Tomorrow. He is currently a member of several community organizations including the Lions Club, Friends of the Arts, and Friends of the Library.
Before his election to the county council, Dave worked for eleven years as Legislative Analyst for the County Council. He provided policy and fiscal analysis to the County Council. Before going to work for the county Dave worked as a high school teacher and for various community and political organizations.
Dave Gossett was elected to a four-year term to the Snohomish County Council in 2001, and re-elected in 2005. Dave represents the 4th County Council District which covers the south-central portion of Snohomish County and includes the cities of Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek, and Bothell (Snohomish County) as well as parts of Everett and unincorporated areas in-between.
Dave chairs the Law and Justice/Human Services Committee and is the Vice Chair of the Council. He also sits on the Council’s Public Works, Finance, Operations, and Planning Committees.
He has been appointed to represent Snohomish County on a variety of regional boards, including the E-911 board, North Sound Mental Health Agency, Community Transit, I-405 Executive Committee, the Puget Sound Regional Council, the Snohomish Health District, and the Northshore Park and Recreation Service Area Board. Reflecting his interest in economic development he also serves on board of the Greater Seattle Trade Development Alliance, the Economic Development District Board, and the Economic Development Council. He has been appointed by the Governor to represent counties on two statewide boards, the Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board and the Affordable Housing Advisory Board.
